the back up camera is a life saving innovation of today. prior to the back up camera, people would turn around in their seat, which many still do, but also look at the mirrors. the mirrors don't always do the 100% job of giving people a full view of behind the car. this can prevent accidents, backing over people, and hitting other objecks. by December of 2010, people were urged to build all cars with these cameras because of their success. this is historically important because now people are more aware and less nervouse about backing up now.
